ESPERANCE PORT AUTHORITY - STRATEGIC DEVELOPMENT PLANS
I refer the minister to the answer to question without notice 794 about the Esperance Port Authority and the explanation given by the parliamentary secretary on 25 September correcting the earlier answer. (1) Will the minister table the Esperance Port Authority’s half-yearly reports for 2004-05 and 2005-06 as provided to the minister; and, if not, why not? (2) Will the minister explain what commercially confidential information about the port’s customers is preventing the minister from tabling two and three-year-old strategic development plans for the port? (3) Will the minister table the Esperance Port Authority’s 2004-05 and 2005-06 strategic development plans with the commercially confidential information blacked out; and, if not, why not? Hon ADELE FARINA

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this question. (1) Yes. (2)-(3) The strategic development plans are not single-year documents; they are five-year documents and so the documents requested cover current and future projections. The scheme of the Port Authorities Act makes it clear that the annual reports and the statement of corporate intent are public documents and the strategic plans are internal documents.
