BURRUP PENINSULA — LEASES
I refer to sites D, E and general lease J736317 on the Burrup Peninsula. (1) How many companies or government departments are actively considering using or leasing these areas for industrial or infrastructure development? (2) Will the minister provide company and agency names for all interested parties seeking to use or lease these land allocations? (3) If there is more than one interested party for these leases or land allocations, what will the decision-making parameter be for land allocation for the various applicants? Hon NORMAN MOORE

I thank the member for some notice of this question. (1) On site D, two companies and one government agency are currently considering using this land for industrial infrastructure development. Site E is currently leased to Woodside Energy Ltd for lay-down and other purposes associated with the Pluto LNG project—lease J736317. One company is considering using this land for future development, and one government agency has expressed interest in using part of this land. (2) The companies considering the use of site D are Burrup Nitrates Pty Ltd—ammonium nitrate, and Archean Group/Nova Strategies—urea. The Water Corporation is seeking a site for a desalination plant. (3) The decision on land allocation was made according to the overall benefits to the state, including whether the industrial development will utilise the common-user infrastructure in the estate, and the time line of that particular project.
