PERTH CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL — LEAD
CONTAMINATION
670. Mr D.J. KELLY to the
Premier:
I have a supplementary question. The Minister for Water has
just said that the lead is not coming into the QEII site; the Premier has just
said that the lead is not coming from the QEII site. The Premier said this
morning that the source of the lead had been detected. Can the Premier tell us
what his advice is as to the source of the lead; what has he been told?

AnswerView source ↗

As I said, I have been advised that it is not from within the
Perth Children's Hospital and it is not from within the QEII site.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER :
Members! That is enough!
Mr C.J. BARNETT : I
drive past the Perth Children's Hospital site every morning and there
is machinery and equipment operating around that site. There is machinery
around there; it is a construction site. There are all sorts of machinery and
equipment operating around that construction site, which is not part of the
hospital and will not be there when the hospital is completed. That is what I have
been advised; we will wait until the actual confirmation comes through. There
is no trick question and no trick answer; it is a construction site, as the
Treasurer has said.
