METRONET — TRACK
570. Hon TJORN SIBMA to the Leader of the House representing
the Minister for Transport:
Regarding the additional 72
kilometres of rail that the Metronet project proposes to deliver, how many
kilometres of rail have been laid each year since 2017 for each major Metronet
project?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. The laying of track is among the final pieces of work that is undertaken on rail projects. The
McGowan government is delivering over 72 kilometres of new rail. We can
compare this with the former government, which delivered only 7.5 kilometres of
rail in eight and a half years, failed to deliver the Ellenbrook line and Metro
Area Express light rail, and closed hundreds of kilometres of rail on the tier 3
network.
