ELECTORATE
RESOURCES
710. Hon DARREN WEST to the
Leader of the House representing the Premier:
I refer to the Kalgoorlie Miner article dated
1 March 2013 and to more recent media reports concerning the use of electorate
resources for campaigning.
(1) Could the
minister please confirm whether the Department of the Premier and Cabinet
received any complaints?
(2) If yes to (1), have the matters been investigated?
(3) If the matters have been investigated, what was the
outcome of each investigation?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) Yes.
(2)–(3)
The issues raised by the Kalgoorlie Miner in March were examined
by the Department of the Premier and Cabinet. The matters raised with the
department were drawn to the attention of the members of Parliament. With
respect to more recent media reports concerning local government elections, the
department's policies do not include any reference to involvement by
members of Parliament in local government elections. Use of a member's
email accounts and any written forms of communication are at the discretion of
individual members.
The PRESIDENT : Hon Adele Farina indicated earlier that
she had a question and she had used a question in the name of another member,
so I think it is appropriate that she gets her own question.
