PATIENT ASSISTED TRAVEL SCHEME — STANDING
COMMITTEE ONPUBLIC ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDATIONS
898. Hon STEPHEN DAWSON to the minister
representing the Minister for Health:
I refer to the Standing
Committee on Public Administration's inquiry into the patient assisted
travel scheme.
(1) How many of
the committee's recommendations have been implemented by government and
which recommendations are they?
(2) When can
residents in regional Western Australia expect the remainder of the
recommendations to be implemented?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice
of the question.
(1) The patient
assisted travel scheme has been significantly expanded under this government. I
am advised that the former Minister for Health responded formally to the
Standing Committee on Public Administration's report on 17 August 2015
and acknowledged the recommendations noting a number were subject to additional
funding, with the exception of recommendations 13, 14 and 16, which were not
supported. Recommendations 17, 19 and 20 have been partially implemented.
(2) Funding for
the remaining supported recommendations is to be considered through the 2017–18
budget process.
