(a)-(e) The Cook Government is incredibly proud of this first-of-its-kind scheme that is delivering real cost of living relief for regional WA families.
Since launching in July 2022, the scheme has been extremely popular, with more than 758,000 capped flights taken by regional residents.
Cheaper airfares are helping regional Western Australians stay connected to family, healthcare professionals, and essential services in Perth.
We understand how critical affordable airfares are for regional families, which is why we have locked in this important scheme for the long-term.
The original pricing of $199 one way (zone 1 - locations less than 1,000km from Perth) and $299 one way (zone 2 - locations more than 1,000km from Perth) remain for low demand flights that are off-peak or booked well in advance.
Zone cap fares for high demand flights will be capped at a maximum of $265 one way for zone 1 travel and $385 one way for zone 2 travel. These are maximum prices, and airlines can set their own zone cap fares below them.
This updated model will also encourage more competition among airlines, giving regional residents the chance to secure even better deals.
