I thank the member for some notice of the question. (1) The work to upgrade and improve the parking and pathway facilities around the Hamelin Bay boat ramp is programmed to be completed by 8 December 2006. The works are currently ahead of schedule and the upgrading of the boat ramp was completed earlier in 2006. (2)-(3) It is anticipated that there will be a short period of two or three weeks following the opening of the rock lobster season on 15 November 2006 before the boat ramp and immediately adjoining car park will be available for use, as a result of the work being undertaken to improve the facilities. The facilities at Hamelin Bay have been developed by the Department of Environment and Conservation primarily for recreational use. Commercial rock lobster fishers have not commenced their operations at Hamelin Bay in previous years until around mid-December. This answer was current as at Wednesday, 8 November 2006.
