ELECTORAL DATABASE SYSTEMS
Some notice has been given of this question. I refer the Premier to the matter of electorate information management systems. (1) Will the Premier table the written advice from the source of electoral roll data provided by Magenta Linas and Consultech subject to the conditional letters of acceptance given in October 2000; and, if not, why not? (2) Why did the 2005 tender process include the requirement that electoral roll data must be sourced from the Western Australian Electoral Commission as the Australian Electoral Commission data is adequate to meet the needs of an electoral database system? Hon KIM CHANCE

I thank the Leader of the Opposition for some notice of this question. (1) I table the written advice provided from the source of electoral roll data as provided by Magenta Linas and Consultech in October 2000. (2) In September 2005, prior to advertising the tender, information was sought from the Australian Electoral Commission on the potential for tenderers to utilise data originating from electoral rolls provided by the Australian Electoral Commission. I table the advice received from the Australian Electoral Commission. It should also be noted that the tender document described that “Provision of this information from any other source must include the written approval of the owner of the information.” [See paper 2303.]
