On behalf of the Minister for Police, I thank the honourable
member for some notice of the question.
(1) There were 15 different days, for a total of 17 unique
deployments during 2015–16.
(2) There were 4 928.
(3) There were 698.
The answer to part (1) includes
vehicles travelling at exactly 50 and 60 kilometres an hour.
There are a number of caveats to
the information, one of which is that the statistics are provisional and
subject to revision. These statistics were prepared previously to address
question on notice 5654. The date of the speed camera deployment was determined
using the date that the camera deployment ended. If the same driver was caught
driving at above 50 kilometres an hour on multiple days, they have been counted
multiple times—one for each time they were caught. The source of the
data is the image and infringement processing system from which it was extracted
on 21 August 2016.
