With regard to Budget Estimates 2003-04 one of the Water and Rivers Commission’s major achievements for 2002-03 was to develop ‘monitoring and evaluation protocols for regional strategies in support of National Action Plan (NAP)/Natural Heritage Trust (NHT) 2’ (p641, Budget Paper No. 2) -
(1) How much was budgeted in 2002-03 for the development of these protocols?
(2) Will the process of monitoring and evaluating the efficacy of NAP and NHT grants for projects in regional Western Australia continue in 2003-04?
(3) If yes to (2), how much has been budgeted for this process?

(1) The Water and Rivers Commission budgeted $5,400. (2) Yes. (3) $46,400 has been budgeted. The actual expenditure will be contingent on the signing of the NAP by both the State and the Commonwealth and the agreed monitoring and evaluation frameworks to be developed with the Regional groups.
