I refer to the Treasurer’s Advance Authorisation and provisions made in the Western Australia Police budget, in particular, the $4,256,000 million allocated for information communications technology (ICT) and I ask:
(a) can the Minister specify the reasons for the requirement for additional funding;
(b) what is the total allocated for ICT continuity and development from June 2009 to the present;
(c) how much of the amount spent on ICT continuity and development was specifically budgeted for in the 2009–2010 budget and how much was diverted from other allocations; and
(i) if funds were diverted, from what other allocations were these funds diverted; and
(d) what impact, if any, will this measure have on the resources available to operational police officers?

(a) The $4.256m was not additional funding. There was a change in the type of funding from capital contribution funding to service appropriation 'capital works expensed'.
(b) The 2009/10 budget allocation is $13.412m, which consists of capital contribution funding of $8.662m and capital works expensed funding of $4.75m.
(c-i) All the actual and planned expenditures for the ICT project in 2009/10 relate to the allocated amount in the 2009/10 budget. No funds in the 2009/10 budget have been diverted from other allocations.
(d) Not applicable.
