(1) Transperth bus services are provided under commercial agreements with private sector bus companies so the actual running costs (fuel, oil, parts and maintenance labour costs only) incurred by the companies are not held by the Public Transport Authority. However, the formulation of the price paid for services under these contracts allows for reasonable estimates to be made.
(a) CNG rigid buses have an estimated average running cost of $1.39 per service kilometre.
(b) Transperth has only three prototype CNG articulated buses. As these buses have only recently been introduced into operation there is insufficient data available to provide an estimate of running costs.

(b) Diesel articulated buses have an estimated running cost $1.15 per service kilometre.
