CARNARVON MENTAL HEALTH FACILITIES
(1) Is the minister aware of community concerns at the poor state of the mental health facilities in Carnarvon? (2) What upgrade or redevelopment, if any, is planned for this facility? I thank the honourable member for the question. (1) The Minister for Mental Health has received correspondence from one Carnarvon mental health consumer regarding the mental health facilities in Carnarvon. A meeting is scheduled for June 2010 in Carnarvon to visit the facility and to discuss the concerns. (2) The WA Country Health Service–Midwest is organising for the lease of additional transportable office accommodation to be located at the existing site. In addition, minor alterations are being planned to the existing leased building in order to improve the functionality. (3) The additional lease will be approximately $40 000 per annum and the minor works will cost approximately $20 000. (4) No. Services will continue to be delivered at the current facility. (5) It is anticipated that arrangements for the additional transportable office accommodation and the minor alterations will be finalised by the end of June 2010.
