SCHOOLS — EVAPORATIVE AIR CONDITIONER FIRES
813. Hon SUE ELLERY to the Minister for
Education:
I refer to the recommendations of
the report commissioned by the Insurance Commission into multiple fires in
evaporative air conditioners in schools.
(1) What is the status of the
implementation of the recommendations?
(2) Is the minister
confident that all of the recommendations will be fully implemented by the
start of term 4 this year before summer?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
(1)–(2) There
are six key recommendations in the report commissioned by RiskCover. Four
recommendations relate to the maintenance and inspection regime and will be
implemented by term 4 of 2016. The remaining two recommendations relate to
research work, which is ongoing. The research items relate to the cyclic
replacement of parts and the recording of asset conditions.
