Given that Denmark has a significant of proportion of ageing residents and this is causing an increasing demand on services at the hospital, I ask:
(a) how many patients have been transferred from the Denmark Hospital to:
(i) Albany Regional Hospital; and
(ii) Plantagenet Hospital; and
(b) what is going to be done to increase bed capacity and staffing at the Denmark Hospital?

(a) (i) For the period April 2009 - August 2009, there were a total of 62 transfers from Denmark Health Service to Albany Hospital.
(ii) Nil.
(b) There is sufficient bed capacity at Denmark Health Service. The WA Country Health Service - Great Southern is monitoring demand for services in Denmark and will adjust staffing where required.
