BROOME
MENTAL HEALTH UNIT
1. 227. Hon STEPHEN DAWSON to the Minister for Mental Health:
I refer to the Broome mental health unit.
(1) In each month since January 2013, how many patients
admitted to the unit were from —
(a) the Kimberley; and
(b) the Pilbara?
(2) Of the patients admitted in each of these months from the
Kimberley, how many were Aboriginal?
(3) Of the patients admitted in each of these months from the
Pilbara, how many were Aboriginal?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the honourable member for some notice of this
question.
(1) (a) Ninety-eight
patients from the Kimberley have been admitted to the Broome mental health unit
since January 2013 until 19 June 2013.
(b) Twelve
patients from the Pilbara have been admitted to the BMHU since January 2013
unti1 19 June 2013.
The monthly figures could not be
broken down due to the short time frame in which to answer the question.
(2) January,
11; February, eight; March, 13; April, eight; May, eight; and less than five in
June.
(3) January,
less than five; February, less than five; March, less than five; April, less
than five; May, less than five; and June, less than five.
For confidentiality reasons, counts less than five including
zero are always indicated as ''less than five''. I am also
advised that patients may be included in overlapping months. For example, if a
patient was in the unit in April through to May, they would have been counted
in both of those months.
