For each Department and Agency under the Minister’s control, including the Ministerial office -
(1) How many mobile phones have been reported lost or stolen for the six months to 31 December 2006?
(2) What was the total value of the mobile phones that were lost or stolen?
(3) Was the loss or theft of any of these mobile phones reported to the police?
(4) If yes to (3), when were these reports made?
(5) Of those reported, what has been the outcome?
(6) If any were not reported to the police, why not?
(7) What steps, if any, have been put into place with a view to eliminating, or at least reducing, these losses?
(8) When were these steps put into place?

(7) Staff have been instructed to keep the only entrance door on the ground floor to the office suite from which the phone was stolen locked at all times and all staff have been encouraged to lock their offices when they are absent from them for an extended period of time. (8) The theft was discovered on 9 October 2006 and the steps outlined in above were put in place immediately.
