(1) Is the Minister aware of media reports that there have recently been 12 attempted suicides amongst the youth in the remote community of Balgo in the South East Kimberley?
(2) Will the Minister take action to put in place an urgent response and funds from the Kimberley Development Commission and the Department for Regional Development for a second youth worker to assist with this critical situation amongst these young people; and
(a) if not, why not; and
(3) Will the Minister take action to put in place funds to assist with the replacement of a Youth Centre, which burnt down last year as a result of the activities of youngsters sniffing petrol at the community; and
(a) if not, why not?

(1)   Yes.
(2)   The discretionary funds available through the Kimberley Development Commission are part of Royalties for Regions funding, the Kimberley Regional Grants Scheme. The current 2010/2011 round closes on 10 March 2011. The Balgo Community would be encouraged to apply for funding for a suitable project.
