PETROGLYPHS —
BURRUP PENINSULA
257. Hon Dr BRAD PETTITT to the minister representing the
Minister for Environment:
I refer to the April 2021 summary of
scientific and monitoring programs of the Burrup rock art published by the
Department of Water and Environmental Regulation, which stated that there had
been no independent monitoring of the petroglyphs on the Burrup Peninsula since
the CSIRO program ceased collecting data in 2016.
(1) Other than
Yara's obligations under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity
Conservation Act, has any independent monitoring of the rock art been
undertaken since 2016?
(2) If yes to
(1), could the minister please advise when and by whom?
(3) If yes to
(1), could the minister please table those reports?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question.
Again,
I was handed just before question time three questions that I do not have
answers to yet— Hon Dr Brad
Pettitt's and two from Hon Tjorn Sibma. I am advised that the answers
should be provided to me by the end of question time, so once they come in, I will
provide them to the house.
