I thank the member for the question.
(1)–(2) Ten
departments will be relocated to the new development in Karratha; that is the
majority of departments in Karratha. Analysis has been undertaken of the
buildings, and the Department of Finance has undertaken a business cost
analysis to determine whether it is worthwhile to relocate those agencies and
it has been found to be worthwhile, primarily because a lot of remedial work
and considerable capital works are required to be undertaken on the land that
currently houses a lot of the departments in Karratha. That was taken into
consideration when making the decision to relocate the agencies to the new
development. There will also be the opportunity to consider the sale of land
upon the vacancy of the existing buildings. All in all, it was considered a
worthwhile decision; hence, that decision has been made.
