TEACHER SALARIES — DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION AND TRAINING ADVERTISING
I ask a supplementary question. Is the minister aware that teachers around Western Australia are incensed at the minister’s advertising campaign, because he is attempting to mislead the public by using 2008 salary levels in other states compared with 2011 salary levels in Western Australia? The SPEAKER : Order! Take a seat. Just the first part of the question will be permitted. Mr M. McGOWAN

The advertisements that we have put out include a comparison of each of the states, including Western Australia, in 2008. Is the member going to deny that? No, he will not. We have then carried that forward to what will be offered in 2011. Under the New South Wales government’s wages policy, a senior teacher 2 equivalent, with nine years of service, would be paid $2 000 to $3 000 less than what we have offered to the Western Australian teaching workforce.
