I refer to the Curtin Medical School proposed for Midland and ask: (a) can you clarify that the State Government is not actually providing $22m, but only contributing the land, valued at approximately $5m; (b) what was the Valuer General's most recent evaluation of the land, and when was it undertaken; (c) were independent evaluation of the land undertaken, if so when, and what were the respective evaluation/s of the land; (d) can you confirm that ownership the land will not be transferred to Curtin University, but rather will be leased to the University at a discounted/peppercorn rate (eg. how did the figure of $5m come about does the $5m represents the discount in market value rent over the life of the lease rather than the value of the land; (e) what will be the length of the lease to Curtin; (f) will the University be permitted to sell, or sub-lease some of the land; (g) what caveats and restrictions will there be over the land; and (h) Is there a signed deed of the land?

(a) The State is contributing the land and $22 million.
(b - c) The land to be provided to Curtin University (0.5 hectares) is part of a broader 14.6 hectare parent lot within the Midland Railway Workshops site. At present there is no individual title for the proposed land for Curtin. The portion will be subdivided from the parent lot and created as a Crown Reserve, and therefore it does not have an individual valuation.
(d) The site is proposed to be created as a Crown Reserve with a Management Order to be vested to Curtin.
(e) Not applicable; a lease is not proposed.
(f - g) Curtin will not be permitted to sell the land; other terms will be determined by the Management Order that will be prepared by the Department of Lands.
(h) There are no deeds associated with the current title.
