Reports on Consultants Engaged by Government confirm; $275,000 paid by the Department of Mines and Petroleum to Curtin University for roadmap to decarbonise WA through integrated mineral carbonisations (1 July – 31 December 2023). $55,000 paid under the Premier’s portfolio to Deloitte for a review of state government energy decarbonisation initiatives (1 January – 30 June 2024). $353,088 paid to Deloitte SRT Pty Ltd for an economic advisor to assist the Department of Treasury to undertake a liquified natural gas and decarbonisation study (1 January – 30 June 2025). Can the Minister advise: (a) What was the process used to engage Curtin University for the $275,000 consultancy; (b) Has Curtin University submitted a draft and/or final report to Government: (i) If so, can this be tabled; and (ii) If not, why not; (c) Has Curtin developed the roadmap it was contracted to and has it been delivered to Government: (i) If so, can this be tabled; and (ii) If not, why not; (d) What were the outcomes from this consultancy ; (e) Have the results been shared with the mining sector and/or entities representing the mining sector: (i) If so, when and who; and (ii) If not, why not; (f) What cost and timeframe were identified for such an initiative; (g) What were identified as the benefits to the State for such an initiative; (h) What were identified as the challenges to the State for such an initiative; (i) Has the consultancy led to changes in Government policy and/or priorities with respect to this issue: (i) If so, why; and (ii) If not, why not; (j) What consultation process did Curtin University follow in undertaking this work; (k) Who was consulted and when; (l) Were updates provided to Government during the consultancy: (i) If so, when and to who; and (ii) If not, why not; and (m) Is she aware of the $55,000 paid to Deloitte by the Department of the Premier and Cabinet (December 2023) for a review of the State Government energy decarbonisation initiatives: (i) When did she become aware of this consultancy; (ii) What were the outcomes from the consultancy; (iii) Is she aware that the Department of Treasury has also engaged Deloitte for $353,088 (30 June 2025) to provide an economic advisor to assist tin undertaking a liquified natural gas and decarbonisation study; (iv) When did she become aware of this consultancy; (v) Is it not more appropriate that the consultancy should be within the Minister’s portfolio and not Treasury; and (vi) Why is the consultancy in the Department of Treasury?
