Water and Environmental Regulation—Vegetation
conservation notice—Chittering
1162. Hon Rob Horstman to
the Minister for the Environment :
My question is to
the minister representing the Minister for the Environment. I refer to clearing
of lot 39 on deposited plan 410791 in Chittering.
(1) Is the aforementioned lot 39 currently subject
to a vegetation conservation notice (VCN)?
(2) If so, has the Department of Water and
Environmental Regulation enforced the VCN, and, if not, why not?
(3) Will further action be taken by DWER against
the landholder in relation to the ongoing clearing of vegetation?

I thank the member
for some notice of his question.

The President: Phoning a friend!
Hon Matthew Swinbourn: I am the Minister for the Environment. I suppose that in a way I represent
myself, so that is okay!
(1) Yes. VCNCPS11275/1 was issued by the
Department of Water and Environmental Regulation on 26 September 2025.
(2)–(3) The department's investigation of
this matter is ongoing. As the vegetation conservation notice issued by the
department is subject to an appeal, it would be inappropriate for me to comment
until the Appeals Convenor has completed her investigation of this matter.
