1 & 2. The average waiting time for a child living in the south-west & Bunbury to receive an early intervention autism assessment is approximately 6 months. The average waiting time for a child living in the south-west & Bunbury to receive a school aged autism assessment is approximately 14 months. It is anticipated waiting times will be reduced as a result of new assessment staff being engaged.
3. The last autism assessment team visited the south-west on 6 December 2007. One child was tested.
4 & 5. There are 35 children in the south-west and Bunbury currently awaiting an autism assessment.
6. The average waiting time for a child living in Perth to receive an early intervention autism assessment is 7 months. The average waiting time for a child living in Perth to receive a school aged autism assessment is 18 months.
