The Department of Housing advises:
(a) The department implemented its asbestos plan in 2008 and has spent a total of $15 985 361.16
(b) The department does not itemise asbestos-related expenditure by type.  The expenditure for asbestos related maintenance in financial year 2011-12 is $1 814 028.
(c) The department does not itemise asbestos-related expenditure by type and estimate costings are not available due to complexities around replacement.  At risk asbestos in dwellings is replaced as and when it comes to the department's attention through normal maintenance assessing/reporting processes.
