TOURISM — 2020 STRATEGY
369. Hon LYNN MacLAREN to the Leader of the
House representing the Premier:
(1) Does the
Premier agree with the ''State Government Strategy for Tourism in Western
Australia 2020'' that international markets, especially China and other
Asian nations, will be the growth engines for tourism in the next decade and
that WA must position itself to meet the needs of Chinese and other Asian
tourists to benefit?
(2) Is the
Premier aware of Tourism Australia findings that the most important factor for
Chinese consumers when selecting a holiday destination is ''world class
beauty and natural environments'', including remarkable scenery,
engaging with nature, tropical islands and beaches, and natural coastlines?
(3) How will the
government promote and protect WA's beautiful natural environments and
coastlines in order to increase the value of tourism over the next decade?
