(1) In relation to the policy announced in the 2004 Greenhouse Strategy, that then State-owned electricity retailer Western Power Corporation, would only procure Renewable Energy Credits from within Western Australia, please advise the date on which this policy was formally rescinded?
(2) Please advise where notice of the rescission of the policy detailed in (1) was published?
(3) Given that Renewable Energy Credits for Synergy’s ‘NaturalPower’ are being procured from the Eastern States, but the actual electrons will be from the polluting power of the SWIS, will Synergy’s NaturalPower customers have both a carbon price and a REC price imposed on the cost of their electricity?

(2) Not applicable.
(3) Yes, as will all liable electricity consumption. Irrespective of GreenPower consumption in Western Australia, carbon pricing and the cost of renewable energy to meet the expanded national renewable energy target will place upward pressure on standard electricity tariffs over time.
