Firearms—Seizures
859. Hon Dr Brian Walker to the minister
representing the Minister for Police:
I
refer the minister to the recent seizure of firearms from approximately 44
licensed owners across WA, alongside the cancellation of the licences related to
those firearms.
(1) Did the Western Australia
Police Force coordinate this action with any outside agency, including the
newly formed national security investigations team within the Australian Federal
Police?
(2) Given that there was an acting
police minister between 5 October and 8 October this year, was the acting minister
made aware of this issue ahead of the Commissioner of Police's initial public
comments on 5 October and, if so, to what extent was he made aware and at what
stage?
(3) Regardless of when the acting minister was
informed, when was the substantive minister made aware of the seizures?

execution of the operation. No Commonwealth agencies were involved in the
execution of the operation.
(2)–(3) A briefing was provided by the
Commissioner of Police to the Minister for Police on 30 September 2025.
