(1) Is Kaleeya Hospital one of the four designated general hospitals that the Cohen Report identifies in Recommendation 42, at which gynaecological and obstetrics care services should be provided in the metropolitan area?
(2) Which are the four designated general hospitals that the Cohen Report refers to Recommendation 42?
(3) Is the Minister aware that the Cohen Report states on page 28 that these Secondary Obstetrics units (the designated general hospitals in part (1) and (2)), should have more than a thousand births to achieve optimum safety, economies of scale and critical mass?
(4) If so, is not the closing of Woodside Hospital and moving it to a smaller obstetrics facility, contrary to the logic and thrust of the Cohen Report, to close smaller units and replace them with units in the metropolitan area with more than 1000 births?
(5) Why does the Minister continue to misrepresent the recommendations of the Cohen Report by saying that the move is consistent with the recommendations of the Cohen Report?

2. There is no recommendation #42 in the Cohen Report. The Metropolitan Obstetric Services Model outlined in Recommendation #1 of the Cohen Report includes four general hospitals. This model was endorsed by the Health Reform Committee in Recommendation #42. The four general hospitals designated are clearly outlined in the Clinical Services Framework 2005 - 2015. That is, Joondalup Health Campus, Swan District Hospital, Armadale Kelmscott Hospital, Rockingham Kwinana Hospital. In addition to the Cohen model, gynaecology and obstetric services will also be available at the Fiona Stanley Hospital. 3. Yes. 4. Closure of Woodside Hospital is clearly consistent with the Cohen Report and the Health Reform Committee Recommendations as per Question 3. The recommendation of the Health Reform Committee supported the closure of Woodside Hospital in alignment with the Cohen Report " when appropriate alternative replacement facility south of the river has been identified ". Kaleeya Hospital was not part of the public health system at the time of these reports. 5. Closure of Woodside Hospital is consistent with the recommendations of the Cohen report.
