KURRA
VILLAGE LEASE
1455. Hon STEPHEN DAWSON to the
Leader of the House representing the Premier:
I refer to the lease renewal of the BHP Billiton Kurra
Village workers accommodation camp.
(1) Did the Premier meet with BHP Billiton about the renewal
of the lease; and, if so, on what dates?
(2) On what date did BHP Billiton submit the lease renewal to
the Premier for approval?
(3) Has the
Premier sought advice from the State Solicitor's Office to confirm that
the state has a statutory obligation to sign that lease extension under the
state agreement; and, if yes, on what date was the advice sought?
(4) Will the Premier
release the community development plan and local participation plan required by
BHP Billiton under the Iron Ore (Mount Newman) Agreement Act 1964?
(5) Did the
Premier consider clauses 7B(1)(i) and (ii) of the agreement in the act when
making the determination to grant the lease extension; and, if so, why were
these clauses able to be overridden?
