A Recreational Fishing From Boating Licence fee of $30 was introduced in February 2010 (effective from March 2010) to provide funding for research, compliance and management of the demersal scalefish resource, including pink snapper, dhufish and baldchin groper. The fee is still $30.
In addition, some new fees for access to commercial fisheries have been implemented applying to new fisheries, or zones within fisheries, as they are established, based on 5.75% of the GVP of the fishery, or the fishery zone. This fee is in the nature of a royalty for access to the resource.
