I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question.
(1) From the information available, an
estimated 20 173 goats have been removed from the three stations over the past
seven years. This is made up as follows.
At Quobba station, 6 006 goats were removed over the seven-year period:
in 2008–09, 801; in 2009–10, 1 223; in 2010–11, zero;
in 2011–12, 1 089; in 2012–13, 789; and in 2013–14, 754
plus 1 350 shot.
At Gnaraloo station, 700 to 800 goats have been removed each year since
2009, with the exception of 2010 when there was no road access due to flooding.
At Warroora station, 11 178 goats were removed in the seven-year period.
Annual figures are not provided.
(2) Yes; a
significant reduction is reported for each of the three stations.
(3) At Quobba station, 6 006 goats were
removed over the seven-year period. At Gnaraloo station, a total of 3 000 goats
is assumed on the basis of an average of 750 goats removed annually for the
four-year period excluding 2010. At Warroora station, seven years ago, 2 500
goats were being removed annually, which has reduced progressively to fewer
than 800 being removed annually.
