The Department of Housing advises:
1. Development approval was granted on 1 November 2010 and the project should go to tender in early 2011.
2. 19 rooms for low income male residents over the age of 20 years.
3. The new facility will provide 37 rooms with ensuites for low income male and female residents. Two of these rooms will be wheelchair accessible. There are also shared kitchen and lounge facilities for residents. In addition there will be an onsite caretaker's unit and some office and retail space.
4. (a) Department of Housing staff and the project architects have had several meetings with the City of Bunbury planners and senior officers since 2008.
(b) No direct consultation.
(c) The Department has consulted with community housing and welfare organisations throughout the development of this project.
(d) There was no requirement for public consultation by the City of Bunbury.  However, plans for the redevelopment of this site have been known publicly for some time. In addition, there is strong demonstrated demand for this accommodation facility in the City of Bunbury.
5. There are plans for a small retail space on the ground floor of the Victoria Street frontage and some office space on the first and second floors. Within the lodging house facility itself, there will be office space for the onsite manager.
