(1)-(2) I thank the member for some notice of this question and for his continued interest in small business, particularly in his electorate. We have established a number of forums to meet with small business industry bodies and small business operators. Earlier this year, we ran a very successful home base business summit attended by more than 200 people - more people than the room could hold. Apart from that, the Government has established a very successful small business ministerial link forum. These forums, which are held about every three months, run for two hours and address complex issues facing the small business sector. So far a number of these forums have been held. We hope that the next one will be in regional Western Australia. Between 10 and 20 representatives of small business meet with us and discuss a range of issues. Issues we have discussed at these forums concern e-commerce and online trading, professional indemnity, red tape reduction measures, growing a business and the like. The forums have been very successful indeed, so much so that a number of the people who have attended have been very keen for us to continue to run them. They are run with a limited agenda to enable all matters of concern to those particular business organisations to be discussed. The last one I attended focused on professional business organisations, and topics such as professional indemnity were discussed. We have also discussed ways of assisting small business to export and, to follow on from the trade minister’s meetings, to double the number of exporters over the next five years. Mr Trenorden: The Avon community was very pleased to see you up there last week and congratulates you. Mr C.M. BROWN: I thank the member for Avon; it is very generous of him to say so. It is my intention to continue to hold these small business ministerial forums. They have been very well received. These forums, together with the other forums I run with small business operators and organisations, ensure that we are meeting our election commitments in full.
