Minister for Housing:
I refer to the awarding of head contractor to Pindan
Contracting Pty Ltd for maintenance work for the Housing AuthorityXXX ###XXXs
stock in the midwest .
(1) Is there a
requirement for the Housing Authority to use Aboriginal businesses to provide
contracted services if they are competitive?
(2) In the
contracts for the provision of repairs and maintenance to WA government housing
stock, is there a clause that requires the head contractor or contractors to
ensure that the WA government policy of support to Aboriginal businesses is a
requirement of that contract?
(3) If yes to (2), what percentage of work is required to be
awarded to Aboriginal subcontractors?
(4) If no to
(2), why not and what action, if any, has the minister taken to ensure that
local Aboriginal businesses or subcontractors have the opportunity to work on
local projects?

support Indigenous economic development and demonstrate a commitment to target
20 per cent Indigenous employment or better over the term of the contract.
