I refer to conveyancing allowances for School Bus Services in Western Australia, and I ask: (a) how many families in Western Australia currently receive a conveyancing allowance in lieu of access to a school bus service: (i) of those families, how many individual children are covered by the conveyancing allowance; (b) please provide a breakdown of the geographical distribution (by region or locality) of conveyancing allowance recipients; (c) has the department undertaken any modelling on the number of additional vehicles placed on roads as a result of conveyancing arrangements rather than school bus transport: (i) if yes, please table the findings; and (d) did the Department consider the impact on vehicle emissions and environmental standards when implementing or expanding conveyancing arrangements in place of school bus services?

(a)-(d)  1,462 families, comprising 2,080 students, received a conveyance allowance during 2024-25.
Of these families, 769 are in metropolitan Perth, and 693 are in regional WA.
Where it is neither practical nor cost effective to provide a dedicated school bus service, SBS may offer an Eligible Student’s family a Conveyance Allowance.
Vehicle emissions are not a consideration in whether a school bus service or a conveyance allowance is provided.
