I refer to all Western Australian public hospitals, including privately operated hospitals which treat public patients and ask: (a) which hospitals provide patients with free television access in their rooms; (b) which hospitals charge a television rental fee to patients; and (c) of those hospitals that charge a fee: (i) what is the current daily rate charged to a patient, listed by hospital; (ii) what was the daily rate charged to a patient, listed by hospital as at September 2008; (iii) is a discount in the rental fee provided to pensioner and Centrelink concession card holders, and what is the per cent of discount listed by hospital; (iv) which hospitals charges a daily rate at cost (e.g. which reflects the real cost of providing this service); (v) which hospitals are making a profit from this service; (vi) what were the profits raised from television hire in the last financial year, listed by hospital; (vii) which of these hospitals outsource television hire to private companies, listed by hospital and the company providing the service; (viii) how much money did each of these hospitals receive from private companies to provide this service in the last financial year, listed by hospital; (ix) which hospitals take a per cent of the profit of the television hire from the private companies providing these services, and what is the per cent each hospital receives, listed by hospital; (x) of those hospitals making a profit out of television hire, where does the revenue generated from these proceeds go, e.g. Does it go into general consolidated revenue or is it directly re-invested back into the hospital where the TV rental is occurring; and (xi) do these hospitals have free television access in communal areas which can be accessed by mobile patients who cannot afford to pay for television hire (please list answer by hospital)?
