the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister
for Health:
I refer to the
recently released plans for Osborne Park Hospital.
(1) Can the minister confirm that the government
does not intend to include an emergency department for gynaecological emergency
treatment at the hospital?
(2) If yes to (1), what is the government's plan
for life-threatening gynaecological emergencies north of the river following
the closure of King Edward Memorial Hospital for Women?
(3) If no to (1), why is an emergency department
not included in the Osborne Park Hospital plan?

I thank the
honourable member for some notice of the question. The following answer has been
provided by the Minister for Health.
(1) The planned expansion of services at Osborne
Park Hospital does not include an emergency department.
(2)–(3) Decisions about the type and
location of WA Health clinical services are informed by the Clinical Services
Framework and underpinned population projections, demand modelling and changing
models of care, among other inputs.
