EDGEWATER
TRAIN STATION — MULTISTOREY CAR PARK
1297. Hon
KEN TRAVERS to the parliamentary secretary representing the Minister for
Transport:
(1) Can the
minister explain why the ''fully funded, fully costed'' election
commitment of a $46.5 million multistorey car park to provide an additional 560
bays at the Edgewater train station will now provide only 510 additional bays
for $46.5 million?
(2) Is the
minister aware that the City of Joondalup is currently building a 426-bay
multistorey car park on Boas Avenue in Joondalup for $14 million?
(3) Can the
minister explain why the multistorey car park at the Edgewater train station
will cost so much more than the one being built by the City of Joondalup?

AnswerView source ↗

I thank the member for some notice of this question.
(1) The Public
Transport Authority intends to provide as many car parking bays as possible.
However, as the Edgewater multistorey car park project is being delivered as a
design and construct project, many variables will determine the final number of
bays that can be constructed.
(2) No.
(3) The
Edgewater multistorey car park project is currently out to tender. The PTA
expects that the tender prices will represent best value for money within the
available budget of $46.5 million.
