PUBLIC HOUSING — ZONES AND WAITING TIMES
399. Hon LYNN MacLAREN to the minister representing the
Minister for Housing:
(1) How many
public housing zones does the Department of Housing have?
(2) Which zone
has the longest waiting time for approved priority applicants, and what is the
current waiting time for that zone?
(3) Which zone
has the shortest waiting time for approved priority applicants, and what is the
current waiting time for that zone?
(4) How many
people are on the priority waiting list for public housing?
(5) How many
new public housing dwellings will be completed this year?
(6) Of the
government target to build 20 000 new homes by 2020, how many of these are
public housing dwellings?

(2) East Kimberley, town of Halls Creek, August 2006.
(3) Great southern, town of Katanning, July 2013.
(4) As at 31 July 2013, there were 2 974 applications on the
priority list, representing 6 902 people.
(5) The
department forecasts that 455 public housing dwellings will be completed in the
2013–14 financial year. This includes 101 dwellings that are forecast
to be completed by community housing growth providers. These dwellings will
contribute to addressing the waitlist.
(6) The
initial target identified in the ''Affordable Housing Strategy 2010–2020:
Opening Doors to Affordable Housing'' was to increase the supply of
social housing by building a minimum of an additional 3 500 social housing
dwellings by mid-2013. As at 30 June 2013, the state government has delivered 3
864 additional social housing dwellings.
