CONSULTANTS
701. Hon WILSON TUCKER to the Leader of the House
representing the Premier:
I note increased public interest in
the use of consultants in the wake of the PwC tax scandal.
(1) How much does the WA government
spend on consultants?
(2) Will the
government agree to an inquiry into the management and use of consultants,
similar to those being undertaken in other jurisdictions?

I thank the honourable member for
some notice of the question. I know that the question lodged was missing a word
in part (1); I think we can assume what that word was but that is the basis of
the answer.
(1)–(2) As
part of this government's ongoing commitment to accountability and
transparency, and in accordance with Premier's Circular 2021–17,
a six-monthly report on consultants engaged by the government is tabled in both
houses of Parliament regularly. Each report details the name of the consultants
engaged, the purpose of engagement, the period of engagement and the costs.
