WATER
CORPORATION — MINNIVALE RESERVOIR — ASBESTOS
984. Mr D.J. KELLY to the
Minister for Water:
I have a supplementary question. In the 2015–16 ''Statement
of Corporate Intent'' for the Water Corporation, why has the minister
taken out the sections ''Keeping our People Safe'' and ''Zero
Harm'' from the document that appeared in the previous business plan?
Forget about Minnivale; just tell me why she agreed to a business plan for the
Water Corporation that deleted all references to employees' safety? For
the first time that I can see for at least a decade, why did she agree to that?

The Water Corporation has the safety of its employees at the
heart of every single thing that it does. That has not changed. Everyone who
goes to work —
Mr D.J. Kelly interjected.
Ms M.J. DAVIES :
The member thinks that I am personally responsible for writing the statement of
corporate intent, that I delete —
Mr D.J. Kelly :
Under the act, you have to agree to it.
Ms M.J. DAVIES : I
agreed to it in —
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER :
Members!
Mr W.J. Johnston interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for Cannington!
Ms
M.J. DAVIES : Let me be very clear: I absolutely have responsibility, in
consultation with the Water Corporation —
Ms
R. Saffioti interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for West Swan, I call you to order for the first time. I do
not want to hear any more now.
Ms
M.J. DAVIES : That document lays out the projects and the framework under
which the Water Corporation will operate for the next 12 months. Inherent and
intrinsic to everything that that organisation does is the safety of its
employees. That has not changed; it will not change. It is very clear at a
board level and it is very clear at an organisational level. I reject
absolutely the premise of the member's question.
Several members interjected.
The SPEAKER : Member for Bassendean, I call you to order for the first time. That
question is finished.
