TAB —
PRIVATISATION
314. Mr M. McGOWAN to the Minister for Racing and Gaming:
I ask a supplementary question. Will the minister adhere to
his promise made to the people of Western Australia, both before and after the
last state election, not to privatise the TAB in the course of the next three
years?

AnswerView source ↗

I have already said what I have said continuously; namely,
that I feel strongly that privatising the TAB would take place only if it was
in the best interests of the industry and the wider community. If we take a
look at the stateXXX ###XXXs finances, we may consider
it. I do not think the government is considering it at this stage; in the
future, it may well do.
