What do you need? What are you getting at here? Here is
someone who, at the time, police did not know was a sex offender; —
Several members interjected.
Mr J.M. FRANCIS : —
prison staff did not know; the department did not know; I did not know. Nobody
knew because, as I said, they do not come with a sign! Interestingly enough, I
am asked on many occasions by all kinds of people, including Labor members of
Parliament, to involve myself with who gets access to prisons and who does not.
Member for Warnbro, listen to this very carefully —
Ms
R. Saffioti interjected.
The
SPEAKER : Member for West Swan, I
call you to order for the first time. Minister, that was a very specific
question asked by the member. You have gone about it in a roundabout way. Just
answer what he asked; we need to finish.
Mr J.M. FRANCIS : It was not that long ago when the member
for Warnbro asked me to overturn a ban on a convicted drug dealer to get inside
a prison.
Mr
P. Papalia interjected.
Mr J.M. FRANCIS : Asked me to overturn a ban—you went
to the media, you bagged me out, and when you found out the truth —
The
SPEAKER : Minister, I have given you
leeway. You have a chance now to address the last part of his question. If you
want to address it, address it, otherwise I am stopping question time.
Mr J.M. FRANCIS : As I said, if the member has specific
questions, he can put them on notice.
