Minister for Energy and Decarbonisation:
I refer to the Unachievable at Any Cost report relating to WA's
energy transition authored by former Western Power system engineer Mark
Chatfield.
(1) Has the minister read the report?
(2) Has the minister requested a briefing from Mr
Chatfield and, if not, why not?
(3) Will the minister table any documents which
disprove the claims made by the Unachievable at
Any Cost report and, if not, why not?

(1) No.
(2)–(3) The minister has not reviewed the
report and therefore cannot comment. The Cook Labor government is delivering on
a sensible, managed transition to a greater use of renewables and is committed
to getting out of coal by 2030. Renewable power, backed by storage and gas,
will provide the lowest cost energy for Western
Australians. Our plan is based on expert modelling and evidence. We are
committed to working with business and industry to navigate the energy
transition and to make the most of becoming a clean energy powerhouse.
