RIO TINTO —
CARNARVON AND GERALDTON FLIGHTS
474. Mr V.A. CATANIA to the Premier:
I refer to Rio Tinto's
decision to cut company flights out of Carnarvon and Geraldton, which could
force employees living in those towns to relocate.
(1) Has the Premier or any of his ministers sought an
explanation from Rio Tinto about why it made this decision?
(2) Will the
Premier give an undertaking to raise this matter urgently with Rio Tinto, in
light of the serious consequences that the decision will have on the economies
of Carnarvon and Geraldton?
