I refer to the Perth Groundwater Atlas dated October 1997 and in particular sheet Perth BG34. Can the minister confirm that ground water from Lake Farm Retreat flows in a south-westerly direction away from the Gnangara water mound? Hon TOM STEPHENS

I thank the member for some notice of this question. Yes, the regional ground water flow moves in a general south-south-westerly direction away from the Gnangara mound. This flow pattern is more evident in the 2004 version of the Perth Groundwater Atlas, which will soon be released.
