(1)(a) In 2014-2015 there were 98 sexually transmitted infections reported to the Department for Child Protection and Family Support (the Department) in the following districts:

Cannington - 9
East Kimberley - 16

Symptoms of sexually transmitted infections take time to appear. Therefore infections are already present in children who come into the care of the CEO. This answer refers to the number of children in the care of the CEO with a sexually transmitted infection.
Through the Mandatory Reporting Interagency Training Group, the Department is working to address sexual abuse, early onset of sexual activity and STI's. This group is delivering increased education around sexual activity, reporting of sexual abuse and also providing culturally specific information and local strategies aimed at addressing these issues.
